Unified Memory Is the New Sovereignty: Why Edge AI Must Rethink Its Foundations
At the tactical edge, latency isn’t just a performance metric—it’s a sovereignty boundary. When a forward unit’s AI system pauses to transfer data between CPU and GPU, it’s not just wasting cycles; it
The Edge Isn’t Fast Enough — Why Unified Memory on Jetson AGX Orin 64GB Forces a Rethink of Tactical AI Inference
The tactical edge demands speed, but the industry’s obsession with model efficiency has blinded it to a deeper truth: the bottleneck isn’t the model, it’s the memory. For years, developers have trimme
Why Unified Memory on Jetson AGX Orin 64GB Redefines Edge Inference — and What 275 TOPS Reveals About Thermal Reality
The edge AI problem is not about models. It is about physics. Every inference at the tactical edge operates under three immutable constraints: power, bandwidth, and latency. These form a triangle wher
The Hidden Cost of 275 TOPS: Why Thermal Constraints and Unified Memory Define Edge AI at the Tactical Edge
The Jetson AGX Orin 64GB boasts 275 TOPS of compute power—enough to run large language models in a device the size of a smartphone. Yet in the field, this number is a red herring. What matters is how
The Illusion of Performance: Why TOPS Numbers Fail at the Tactical Edge
The pursuit of peak theoretical performance is a siren song for engineers. We chase FLOPS, TOPS, and IOPS as proxies for real-world capability, building benchmarks that validate our calculations—and o
Why Unified Memory Architecture on the Jetson AGX Orin 64GB Redefines Edge Inference — and What 275 TOPS Actually Buys You
The Jetson AGX Orin 64GB delivers 275 TOPS of compute power, yet in bandwidth-constrained environments, this number becomes a red herring. The hardware is capable, but the architecture determines whet
The Paradox of Edge Inference: Why 275 TOPS on the Jetson AGX Orin 64GB Is a Game-Changer (and What It Really Means)
There's a paradox at the heart of edge inference. On one hand, real-time performance demands low latency and high throughput. On the other, thermal constraints limit power consumption, making it diffi
Why Unified Memory on Jetson AGX Orin 64GB Redefines Tactical Edge Inference
A forward-deployed drone in contested airspace captures thermal imagery at 30 fps, each frame requiring real-time object detection. Its onboard AI must process 1280x720 resolution at 15-60W, with no m
The Forward Observer's Dilemma: Why Unified Memory Matters at the Tactical Edge
A forward observer calls in coordinates for indirect fire. The target is fleeting, a vehicle moving between buildings in a contested urban environment. The system processes imagery from a down-linked
The Cost of Data Shuffling: Why Unified Memory Defines Tactical Edge Inference
A team operating in a denied GPS environment relies on tightly-integrated EO/IR sensors, running object detection and tracking algorithms to maintain situational awareness. The system must process mul
